Speech & Voice As A Means To Classical
Text & Individual Expression:
The exploration of how you breathe and how
to find your true voice. The fundamentals of vocal training for
actors to develop a beautiful, strong, versatile instrument. Breath
control and physical exercises designed to make the actor aware
of vocal capabilities and possibilities. For the actor there must
be the sound of truth in the voice that enters the language of
the acting text in creating a character.
In this workshop we will
practice using poetry and passages from Shakespeare. Exercises
will be given to develop the muscles of speech that result in
clarity, confidence and versatility. The International Phonetic
Alphabet (IPA) is studied to develop the actor’s sense of
hearing. Please bring a hand mirror, pencil and notepad to each
class and wear comfortable clothing to move in. Students may wish
to bring a yoga mat or towel to use during sessions. An optional
speech workbook by the author is available for $45 (cash only).
